Türk edebiyatında matematik imgesi Batumlu, Emre Şiir ile matematik birbirinden uzak kavramlar gibi dursalar da ortak yönler içermektedirler. Çünkü hem şiir hem de matematik sadece doğruyu söylemekle yetinmez. Her ikisinin de amacı doğru olanı güzel bir şekilde anlatmak, aktarmaktır.

Matematikçiler bunu, mümkün olduğunca yalın bir anlatımla, ilgililerin anlayabileceği seviyede matematik bilgisini düzenleyerek sağlar. Şairler ise bunu mümkün olduğunca az kelime kullanarak yapmaya çalışırlar. Şairlere bu imkânı veren imgelerdir. İmge, şairin duyu organları ile algıladığı nesne ve olaylar için zihninde oluşturduğu soyutlamalardır.

Matematik dünyasının da tamamen soyut bir içeriğe sahip olduğu düşünüldüğünde, şairlerin matematik kavramını, matematikle ilgili terim ve elemanları bir imge olarak kullanmaları olağandır. Bu sebeple tarihten günümüze hemen her milletin edebiyatında özel olarak da şiirinde matematik konularının imgeleştirildiği görülmektedir.

Türk edebiyatında; sayılar, aritmetik ve geometri terimleri başlıca kendine yer bulan ve imge olarak kullanılan matematik konuları olarak göze çarpmaktadır. Bu tez ile Türk Edebiyatında matematik konularını imgeleştiren şairler ve şiirleri, araştırılmış, irdelenmiş ve tasnif edilmiştir. Öncelikle matematik sanat ilişkisi genel hatlarıyla anlatılmıştır.

Matematiğin resim, heykel, müzik ve mimari ile olan ilişkisi üzerinde durulmuştur. Ardından Türk halk edebiyatında sayı simgeciliği irdelenmiş, Türk mitolojisi, Türk destanları ve halk anlatılarında geçen sayılar ve bu sayılara yüklenen anlamlar açıklanmıştır. Bir sonraki bölümde klasik Türk şiirinde kullanılan tarih düşürme, vezn-i aher ve akis sanatlarının matematik ile olan ilişkisinden bahsedilmiştir. Son kısımda ise Cumhuriyet Dönemi Türk Şiirinde matematik unsurlarını imgeleştiren şairler ve şiirler anlatılmıştır.

Anlatılan şairler ve şiirler kronolojik ya da bağlı bulundukları akımlara göre değil de kullandıkları matematik unsurlarına göre ele alınmıştır. Böylece; sayılar, geometri, aritmetik ve aritmetiği yadsıyan şiirler ana bölümleri ile inceleme gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu inceleme göstermiştir ki Türk edebiyatında matematik bir imge olarak sıklıkla kendine yer bulmuştur ve yer bulmaya da devam etmektedir.;

Although poetry and mathematics seem distant from each other, they have common aspects. Because both poetry and mathematics are not content with just telling the truth. The purpose of both is to explain and convey the truth in a beautiful way. Mathematicians achieve this by arranging mathematical knowledge at a level that those concerned can understand, in as simple a way as possible. Poets, on the other hand, try to do this by using as few words as possible. It is the images that give poets this opportunity. Images are the abstractions that the poet creates in his mind for the objects and events he perceives with his sense organs. Considering that the world of mathematics also has a completely abstract content, it is usual for poets to use the concept of mathematics, terms and elements related to mathematics as an image. For this reason, it is seen that mathematics subjects have been imaged in the literature of almost every nation, especially in poetry, from history to the present. In Turkish literature; Numbers, arithmetic and geometry terms stand out as mathematical subjects that take their place and are used as images. With this thesis, the poets and their poems that image the subjects of mathematics in Turkish Literature have been researched, examined and classified. First of all, the relationship between mathematics and art is explained in general terms.

The relationship of mathematics with painting, sculpture, music and architecture is emphasized. Then, number symbolism in Turkish folk literature was examined, numbers in Turkish mythology, Turkish epics and folk narratives and the meanings attributed to these numbers were explained In the next section, the relationship between the chronogram, vezni aher and palindrome arts used in classical Turkish poetry and mathematics is mentioned. In the last part, poets and poems that image mathematical elements in Turkish Poetry of the Republican Period are explained. The poets and poems told are handled according to the mathematical elements they use, not chronologically or according to the currents they are affiliated with. Like this; In this study, the main sections of numbers, geometry, arithmetic and poems that deny arithmetic were analyzed. This analysis has shown that mathematics has often found a place for itself as an image in Turkish literature and continues to find a place.
