Combustion synthesis of B4C-TiB2 nanocomposite powder: Effect of Mg particle size on SHS and optimization of acid leaching process Çoban, Ozan; Buğdaycı, Mehmet; Başlayıcı, Serkan; Açma, Mahmut Ercan In this study, composite nanoparticles of B4C-TiB2 were produced by combustion synthesis. Production was carried out by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) method in atmospheric conditions by using oxide raw materials (B2O3, TiO2), carbon black and magnesium as a reducing agent. The effect of Mg particle size on SHS efficiency was investigated. Single-stage and 2-stage leaching processes were carried out to remove undesired phases in the SHS product. In the 1st HCl acid leaching process, the leaching temperature and leaching duration were optimized. As a result of the 2nd leaching process with the addition of carbonic acid and H2O2, commercial quality nanoparticle synthesis was performed. Results revealed that the increase in Mg particle size decreased the SHS efficiency, however very fine particle sized Mg usage decreased the SHS efficiency due to the evaporation and scatter of Mg. The optimum Mg particle size was determined as 75-150 mu m. Since it has a significant effect on the removal of Mg-borate phases, 90 degrees C was determined as the optimum leaching temperature. The optimum leaching duration was determined to be 60 min. As a result of optimized leaching processes, 99.11% purity B4C-TiB2 nanoparticle with 193.5 nm particle size and 30.65 m(2)/g surface area was synthesized.

This interaction process may also be effective in developing emotional schemas and attitudes. The present study aimed to investigate the similarities or differences in emotional schemas between mothers and adolescents in both clinical and control groups.Method: Eighty-two adolescents who applied to the child and adolescent outpatient clinics and their mothers (assigned as the clinical group) and 80 adolescents without any psychiatric problems and their mothers (assigned as the control group) were examined using a Sociodemographic Characteristics Form and Leahy Emotional Schema Scale Turkish Version (LESS-T). A multivariate analysis of variance test was used to determine the intergroup differences in emotional schema levels.Results: LESS-T was applied to all participants. No statistically significant difference was found between mothers and their adolescents on the LESS-T subscales in the control group (p=0.89). Mothers in the clinical group reported higher levels of demand for rationality (p=0.003) and emotional avoidance (p=0.01) than mothers in the control group. In the clinical group, adolescents reported higher levels of uncontrollability (p=0.007), and mothers reported higher levels of comprehensibility (p=0.001), demand for rationality (p=0.001), and emotional avoidance (p=0.007).Conclusion: Mothers' emotional schemas, such as avoidance and demand for rationality, may prevent their children from expressing and experiencing emotions sufficiently. Findings emphasize the importance of healthy mother-child interaction for developing emotional skills.

The aim of this research was to compare the levels of physical activity (PA) and perceived advantages and barriers to exercise of SpA patients with population controls.Methods: In this cross-sectional study 200 patients (118 males, 82 females) and 100 controls (50 males, 50 females) were included. Levels of PA were evaluated using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form and perceptions of exercise were assessed using Exercise Benefits and Barriers Scale. Fatigue, psychological status and quality of life of all participants were questioned. Disease activity, functions and mobility of the patients were also assessed. Correlations were analyzed between disease parameters and perceptions of exercise.Results: PA levels were similar on both groups. Of the patients 65% met recommended amount of exercise. Deterioration of psychological status and quality of life were associated with decreased PA levels of the patients. Patients reported fatigue and lack of time barriers more than controls. When disease activity, functionality, mobility, fatigue, psychological status and quality of life of the patients deteriorated, perceived barriers to exercise increased.Conclusion: Health professionals should focus on personal barriers to improve exercise behavior in SpA patients.; Amaç: Egzersiz spondiloartritlerin (SpA) yönetiminde bir köşe taşıdır. Bu araştırmanın amacı, SpA hastalarının fiziksel aktivite (PA) düzeylerini ve egzersizden algılanan avantajları ve engelleri popülasyon kontrolleriyle karşılaştırmaktır. Yöntemler: Bu kesitsel çalışmaya 200 hasta (118 erkek, 82 kadın) ve 100 kontrol (50 erkek, 50 kadın) dahil edildi. PA seviyeleri Uluslararası Fiziksel Aktivite Anketi-Kısa Form ile değerlendirildi ve egzersiz algıları Egzersiz Faydaları ve Engeller Ölçeği ile değerlendirildi. Tüm katılımcıların yorgunluğu, psikolojik durumu ve yaşam kalitesi sorgulandı. Hastaların hastalık aktivitesi, fonksiyonları ve mobilitesi de değerlendirildi. Hastalık parametreleri ve egzersiz algıları arasındaki korelasyonlar incelendi. Bulgular: PA seviyeleri her iki grupta da benzerdi. Hastaların %65’i tavsiye edilen egzersiz miktarını karşıladı. Psikolojik durumun ve yaşam kalitesinin bozulması, hastaların PA düzeylerinin azalması ile ilişkiliydi. Hastalar yorgunluk ve zaman yokluğu bariyerini kontrollere göre daha fazla bildirdi. Hastaların hastalık aktivitesi, işlevselliği, hareketliliği, yorgunluğu, psikolojik durumu ve yaşam kalitesi kötüleştiğinde, egzersizin önündeki algılanan engeller arttı. Sonuç: Sağlık çalışanları, SpA hastalarında egzersiz davranışını iyileştirmek için algılanan kişisel engellere odaklanmalıdır.

Long-term effect of nanosized boric acid powder on optical properties of polymer infiltrated ceramic CAD-CAM material Sasany, Rafat; Eyüboğlu, Tan Fırat; Özcan, Mutlu The current study investigated the effect of boric acid (H3BO3) nanosized powder on the optical properties of a Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAD-CAM) polymer infiltrated ceramic material. Specimens (n = 60), (15 x 8 x 1.5 mm(3)) were fabricated from a polymer infiltrated ceramic network (PINC) (Vita Enamic, Vita Zahnfabrik, VITA-shade scale A2). Boric acid (B) nano powder was applied to Vita Enamic in half of the specimens (n = 30), while the other half was left untreated (NB) (n = 30). Aging for all specimens was performed for 5 h at 134 degrees C. Color coordinates (L*, a*, and b*) before and after aging were measured to calculate the color change (Delta E-00) and the translucency parameter (TP) within and between the B and NB groups. One-way ANOVA was used to analyze the effect of boric acid on all color parameters (alpha = 0.05). Only L* increased in B after aging (p < 0.001). L* and b* significantly changed after aging in NB (p < 0.001). Boric acid application affected the color change within the ceramic after aging (p < 0.001). The mean color change (Delta E-00) in B after aging was significantly smaller than the color change in NB after aging (p < 0.001). The color difference between B and NB increased after aging (p < 0.001). No significant effect of aging was found on TP of B (p = 0.143). The TP of NB significantly decreased after aging (p < 0.001). The use of boric acid provided color stability and translucency on aged tested material.

Nuclear energy investments play a critical role for the energy independence. However, nuclear power plants are criticized because of some issues, such as radioactive wastes. In this framework, nuclear power plants can also be worked with thorium instead of uranium so that this problem can be minimized. The biggest obstacle to the realization of green nuclear energy projects is the high costs. To solve this problem, it is important to provide the necessary financing for these investments. In this process, it is seen that financial institutions operating in the market do not meet this need. Financial institutions may be reluctant to finance these projects with very high amounts and uncertainties about their success. There is a need for innovative financial products. It is possible to mention some advantages of presenting these financial products in digital environment. In this way, more investors will be reached. Therefore, it will be possible to have a higher amount of funds. On the other hand, it will be possible to get rid of some fixed costs because of the realization of the transactions in the digital environment. This will also contribute to the reduction of costs. Thus, green nuclear energy investors will be able to access much lower cost loans.

Discs of three commercially available implant surfaces were selected with various nano- and microstructural alterations (Group 1—laser-etched implant surface, Group 2—titanium–zirconium alloy surface, Group 3—air-abraded, large grit, acid-etched surface). They were subjected to photo-functionalization through UV irradiation for 60 and 90 min. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was used to analyze the implant surface chemical composition before and after photo-functionalization. The growth and bioactivity of MG63 osteoblasts in the presence of photofunctionalized discs was assessed in cell culture medium containing elevated glucose concentration. The normal osteoblast morphology and spreading behavior were assessed under fluorescence and phase-contrast microscope. MTT (3-(4,5 Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) and alizarin red assay were performed to assess the osteoblastic cell viability and mineralization efficiency. Following photofunctionalization, all three implant groups exhibited a reduced carbon content, conversion of Ti4+ to Ti3+, increased osteoblastic adhesion, viability, and increased mineralization. The best osteoblastic adhesion in the medium with increased glucose was seen in Group 3. Photofunctionalization altered the implant surface chemistry by reducing the surface carbon content, probably rendering the surfaces more hydrophilic and conducive for osteoblastic adherence and subsequent mineralization in high-glucose environment.

However, research on examining the efficacy of virtual reality-assisted RJP (VR-assisted RJP) is still limited, not to mention the examination of VR-assisted RJP’s capacity on predicting person-organization fit (P-O fit) and person-job fit (P-J fit) and turnover. In this chapter, we review the development of RJP in the past few decades and the development of VR-assisted RJP and discuss concerns of VR-assisted RJP. Implications and future research directions are discussed.

Recently, the association was shownto be even stronger during the pandemic of COVID‐19, as thecausative virus, severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) has been linked to severe autoimmune sequela ininfected individuals. The concerned consequences in patients withCOVID‐19 were documented during the acute viral infection,throughout the long recovery phase (so‐called post‐COVID syn-drome), as well as secondary to the vaccines of COVID‐19.1Actually,the autoimmune nature of SARS‐CoV‐2 has been vastly reported inthe medical literature and it is beyond the scope of our currentpaper.2However, it shows the strong bond between infection andautoimmunity. Subsequently, with a deep interest in the field, weanalyzed the article of Chang et al.3concluding that there is nocorrelation between herpes simplex viral infections and systemiclupus erythematosus (SLE) in terms of causality using Mendelian randomization.

To assess that risk, we compared the ventricular repolarization markers of pediatric renal transplant recipients with those of healthy children. Materials and Methods: We included 30 children and adolescents who were followed for at least 6 months after renal transplant; 30 age- and sex-matched children were included for the control group. Demographic features, medications, and laboratory findings were recorded. Blood pressure measurements, ventricular repolarization indexes including QT dispersion, corrected QT dispersion, T-wave peak-to-end interval dispersion, the T-wave peak-to-end interval/QT ratio, the T-wave peak-to-end interval/corrected QT ratio, left ventricular mass index, and relative wall thickness were compared between groups. In addition, the correlations of ventricular repolarization indexes with other variables were evaluated. Results: Blood pressure standard deviation scores, the mean heart rate, QT dispersion, corrected QT dispersion, the T-wave peak-to-end interval/QT ratio, the T-wave peak-to-end interval/corrected QT ratio, left ventricular mass index, and relative wall thickness values were significantly higher in renal transplant patients, whereas T-wave peak-to-end interval dispersion, ejection fraction, and fractional shortening were similar between groups. Although ventricular repolarization indexes were similar in patients with and without left ventricular hypertrophy, only corrected QT dispersion was significantly higher in patients with hypertension (P = .006). The only variable that significantly predicted prolonged corrected QT dispersion was the systolic blood pressure standard deviation score (P = .005, beta = .403). Conclusions: Ventricular repolarization anomalies, hypertension, left ventricular hypertrophy, and cardiac geometry irregularity may be observed after renal transplant in pediatric recipients despite acceptable allograft functions and normal serum electrolyte levels. Control of systolic blood pressure would decrease the risk of ventricular repolarization abnormalities, namely, the corrected QT dispersion. Follow-up of cardiovascular risks with noninvasive methods is recommended in all pediatric renal transplant recipients.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: The data of 81 cancer patients who received at least one dose of vaccine for COVID-19 and radiotherapy were analyzed retrospectively. At any time after the vaccination, blood samples were taken and the antibody titers against the vaccine were measured. RESULTS: There were 28 (34.6 %) patients who received two doses of vaccine and 48 patients (59.3 %) who received 3 doses of vaccine (Sinovac only), while 26 patients (32.1 %) were given both vaccines. The mean time for antibody measurement was 62 days after the last vaccination. IgG levels were significantly higher in patients who received Biontech vaccine than in those who received Sinovac (r = 0.525; p < 0.001). While chemotherapy was the factor that decreased the mean IgM level (p = 0.044), advanced disease (stages 3 and 4) was a significant factor that increased the mean IgG level (p = 0.047). A statistically significant negative correlation was found between IgM antibody level and WBC count after first vaccination (r = ‒0.251; p = 0.024). For every WBC count unit increase in the first vaccination period, there was a 1.333-fold increase in the risk of IgM negativity. CONCLUSION: The Biontech vaccine produced higher antibody levels in advanced oncology patients. While the application of radiotherapy in cancer patients was not found to be an effective factor in the vaccination status, it was determined that the application of chemotherapy significantly reduced IgM levels (Tab. 5, Ref. 28). Adrenal myelolipomas are the second most common incidentalomas. Similar myelolipomatous morphology appears as a secondary degenerative change in other adrenal lesions and is called myelolipomatous metaplasia. This study investigated the adrenal entities of the last 13 years which had myelolipomatous components.MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this retrospective observational study, cases diagnosed as adrenal myelolipoma or myelolipomatous metaplasia between January, 2009 and January, 2022 were re-examined regarding their age, gender, localization, lesion size, and secondary histopathological changes, accompanying pathological diagnoses as well as clinical and radiological data.RESULTS: Eleven adrenal myelolipoma cases and 6 myelolipomatous metaplasia cases were detected. In myelolipomas, the mean age was 55.45 years, 73% were female and 82% were located on the right side. The lesions were encapsulated and their mean size was 7 cm. One case had a diagnosis of subclinical Cushing's syndrome and the others were hormonally inactive. Some cases were accompanied with hypertension (27%), type 2 diabetes (18%), and asthma (18%). All myelolipomatous metaplasias, which are non-encapsulated, were detected in adrenocortical adenomas. The mean age was 58 years; nonencapsulated and 67% were located on the right side with no gender predilection. Concomitant hypertension (50%), diabetes /33%, and asthma (33%) were frequent.CONCLUSION: Adrenal myelolipoma and myelolipomatous metaplasia both contain adipose and myeloid components. Myelolipoma is a benign and encapsulated neoplasia which is usually detected incidentally. They frequently coexist with chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and asthma.

Mentörlük programları çocuk ve gençlerin pozitif gelişimini destekleyen sistemli programlardır. Araştırmalar, mentörlük programlarının bireyleri sosyal, duygusal, akademik ve istihdam alanlarında desteklemek adına faydalı olduğunu; koruyucu ve önleyici faktörleri teşvik ettiğini göstermektedir. Amaç: 1990’lı yıllardan beri bu amaçla pek çok mentörlük programı hayata geçirilmiştir. Günümüze dek niceliksel olarak ciddi anlamda artış gösteren mentörlük programlarının niteliğinin nasıl olması gerektiği ile ilgili ciddi kaygılar doğmuştur. Söz konusu kaygıların sonucu kanıta dayalı mentörlük programlarının nasıl olması gerektiği sorusu gündeme gelmiştir. Bu bağlamda, mentörlük programlarının teorik çerçevesinin bağlanma temelli bir yaklaşım ekseninde formüle edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem/Tasarım / Metodoloji / Yaklaşım: Bu teorik araştırmada ilgili literatür ekseninde, etkili ve nitelikli mentörlük programlarının özellikle mentör ve menti eşleştirme sürecinde bağlanma temelli bir yaklaşımın ve bu yaklaşımın tüm süreçteki sürekliliği açısından süregiden süpervizyon desteğinin önemi teorik olarak tartışılmıştır. Bulgular: Sonuç olarak, aşırı yapılandırılmış bir çerçevede sadece hedef odaklı mentörlük programlarından ziyade yine belirli bir çerçevesi ve hedefi olan ama ilişkiyi merkeze alan daha menti odaklı bir yaklaşım gençliğin pozitif gelişimi için gereklidir. Özellikle riskli arka plandan gelen çocuk ve ergenlerin ‘riskli’ oluş durumları bireysel faktörlerden ziyade çevresel faktörlerden kaynaklanıyorsa bağlanma temelli mentörlük programlarının çok iyi bir koruyucu / tampon işlevi gördüğünü belirlenmiştir. Therefore, it is critical to the general well-being of children and young people. There are socio-economic education areas, education households and livable social environment / neighborhood characteristics, education, school-purpose education, general mental health and education, and child education that is critical for the general well-being of students and youth. Mentoring programs offer are systematic structures targeting positive youth development. Studies demonstrate the effectiveness of mentoring programs in support of individuals socially, emotionally, academically and in employment areas, promoting protective and preventive factors. Purpose: Wide range of mentoring programs have been put into practice since 1990s. Despite a rapid increase in these programs up-to-date, serious concerns have been raised regarding their quality. As a result of these concerns, the question of how effective and evidence-based mentoring programs should be is coming forward. Hereafter, more structured mentoring programs have been discussed, considering personal (e.g., attachment styles, psychopathology, etc.) and environmental risk factors of mentees independently. Method/Design/Methodology/Approach: Examining the existing literature, mentoring programs are discussed theoretically by focusing on the importance of attachment relationships. To establish an effective mentoring program, which is maintained by evidence-based results, it is crucial to pair mentors and mentees according to their attachment patterns. Sustainability of mentoring programs should be supported by systematic and standardized trainings and ongoing supervision service provided for mentors. Findings: Studies indicate that mentoring programs are effective in promoting positive development not only for mentis but also for the mentors by enhancing a positive climate and cooperative atmosphere. The aim of this research is to reveal genetic abnormalities in terms of sex chromosome aneu- ploidy and Y chromosome microdeletions. Material and Methods: A total of 350 patients with azoospermia or severe oligozoospermia were selected. After general examination of the patients and laboratory investigations were performed, cartoypes and Y chromosome microdeletions were examined. Results: A total of 225 infertile men with non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA) and 125 in- fertile men with oligozoospermia were enrolled into the study. The overall cytogenetic anomaly rate was 16%. Chromosomal changes were detected in 32 of 350 (9.1%) cases. The most common genetic anomaly was 47, XXY (Klinefelter syndrome) and the incidence was 11.5% in NOA group. This rate was 3.2% in oligozoospermia group. Y chromosome microdeletions were detected in 24 (6.8%) patients and similarly, it was observed more frequently in the NOA group than in the oligozoospermia group. Conclusion: The incidence of genetic causes have been increasing with the severity of infertil- ity. As a result, genetic screening and appropriate genetic counseling are needed before the use of assisted reproductive techniques.; Amaç: Genetik bilimindeki ilerlemeler ve yardımcı üreme tekniklerindeki gelişmeler, infer- tilitenin genetik nedenlerine odaklanmamızı sağ- lamaktadır. Bu çalışmada, sex kromozomu anöplo- idisi ve Y kromozom mikrodelesyonları açısından genetik anormallikleriaraştırmayı amaçladık. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Azospermi veya şiddet- li oligozoospermi (≤ 5 milyon spermatozoa/ml) olan toplam 350 hasta analiz edildi. Hastalar genel muayene ve laboratuvar değerlendirmesi sonrası, karyotip ve Y kromozom mikrodelesyonu açısın- dan değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Non-obstrüktif azospermi (NOA) olan toplam 225 infertil erkek ve oligozoospermi olan 125 infertil erkek çalışmaya dahil edildi. Ge- nel sitogenetik anomali oranı% 16 idi. Üç yüz elli vakanın 32’sinde (% 9,1) kromozom değişiklikleri tespit edildi. En sık görülen genetik anomali 47, XXY (Klinefelter sendromu KS) idi ve insidansı NOA grubunda % 11.5 ve oligozoospermi gru- bunda % 3,2 idi. Y kromozom mikrodelesyonu 24 (% 6.8) hastada tespit edildi ve benzer şekilde NOA grubunda oligozoospermi grubuna göre daha sık görüldü (% 9.3 vs % 2.4, sırasıyla). Sonuç: İnfertilitenin şiddeti ile birlikte gene- tik nedenlerin görülme sıklığı artmaktadır. Sonuç olarak, yardımcı üreme tekniklerinin kullanılma- sından önce genetik tarama ve uygun genetik da- nışmanlığa ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır.

Gereç ve Yöntemler: OECD üye ülkelerinin bulaşıcı olmayan hastalıklar risk faktörleri, doğumda beklenen yaşam süresi (DBYS), bebek ölüm hızı (BÖH) ve GINI katsayısı araştırmanın değişkenleridir. Bu veriler OECD, Dünya Sağlık Örgütü ve Dünya Bankası istatistiklerinden faydalanılarak elde edilmiştir. BOHRF değişkenleri ve sağlık düzeyi değişkenleri ile GINI katsayısı arasındaki ilişki, kanonik korelasyon analizi (KKA) ile incelenmiştir. Ayrıca, Türkiye’nin BOHRF ve sağlık statüsü değişkenlerine göre OECD ülkeleri arasındaki konumunu belirlemek için Çok Boyutlu Ölçekleme (ÇBÖ) ve MULTIMOORA yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: KKA sonuçlarına göre BOHRF sağlık düzeyindeki değişkenliğin %38,5’ini açıklamaktadır. Birinci kanonik fonksiyonda, BOHRF ile BÖH, GINI katsayısı ve DBYS arasında orta derece (-0,596, -0,498 ve 0,579 sırasıyla) anlamlı ilişkiler bulunmuştur (p
